Red Frogs was founded in 1997 by Andy Gourley (a Youth Pastor at Citipointe Church) hit Schoolies on the Gold Coast with his skateboarding mates and realised the need for a designated sober person at the massive drinking parties.

Grounded in the mission ‘Safe Guarding a Generation’ Red Frogs Volunteers now work through schools, universities, music festivals and major sporting events across Australia and the world.

And as a Mum to previous Schoolies…I could not imagine navigating that particular ‘rite of passage’ without their presence!

My most shocking realisation of 2022? That children as young as 8 years old are carers for their sick or disabled parents or siblings.

Like most I have been blissfully unaware that the term ‘Carer’ includes children.

The Carers Foundation runs evidence based wellness programs and retreats to help these carers rest, recover and access vital support for coping better at home, and with more than 1.5 Million Australian Carers currently experiencing moderate to severe depression – often unsupported, hidden from mainstream society, in an intense, relentless role – there has never been a more pressing need to support their work.

In 2020 I jumped on a call for a standard business introduction, to be shocked to my core by what was to me a new concept. That of Energy Poverty.

Not heard of it? Then it is time to make yourself familiar, as Energy Poverty is a global challenge which impacts children and their education.

The Australian Based Global Charity, Solar Buddy, is on a mission to gift 6 million lights to children living in energy poverty by 2030 so they can study after dusk and improve their educational outcomes. The unexpected delight in their work? The significant impact their work has on entire communities around the world.
